Description	Schwann cells are valuable tools for diabetic neuropathy pathogenesis involving glycation, reduced regenerative capability, oxidative stress, and other neurodegenerative diseases. The Immortalized Mouse Schwann Cells express glial cell markers (S100, GFAP, p75NTR); transcription factors involved in Schwann cell development and peripheral myelin formation (Krox20, Oct6, PAX3, and SOX10); and neurotrophic factors (NGF, BDNF, GDNF, and CNTF). In the presence of growth factors, such as PDGF-BB, aFGF, bFGF, or TGF-β1, these cells exhibit mitogenic reponses. The IMS32 cells may be used to study action mechanisms involved in peripheral nerve regeneration, and as an in vitro model to assess the pathogenesis of neurological diseases.

Propagation	Use of PriCoat? T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available from ABM (TM003). To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999) to final concentration of 10%, and Penicillin/Streptomycin (G255). Atmosphere: air: 95%, CO?: 5%; Temperature: 37.0°C. Note: Growth of cells is dependent on cell density. The cells should be seeded in high density, otherwise their growth slows down.
